Magic. I finished this brief a while ago, so putting the boards together did not take long as I already had all the photos. Along with these three prints I need to submit the illusion prints. I have a range of these already, so I am just going submit a selection of them as I have a fair few that all consider a different sense of scale and legibility.

Final Pieces..
I think this project is near to being finished now. I have a variety of deliverables.
This is the the packaging and promotion of the typeface.
I thought another context that could work quite well is to create an exhibition to promote the typeface. Not the kind of exhibition that is solely for the typeface but where a section of a typography exhibition is set aside for this project.

Mocking up a poster and evelope for the magic typeface.
This one below is a development of the one above. The envelope is too scrappy at the moment, but I am happy with the layout of the flyer and poster. I think i need to play on the cut out on the envelope more. Maybe have a series of Ms - something to make the transformation of colours a bit more obvious.

Magic Typeface.
By the end of the week, I want to have ISTD Magic and Connections (&extension) Finished. I have spent too much time on these briefs so would like to get them out of the way.
I have decided to give a context to my illusions concept. The brief wanted it to be a branding brief, but I thought I could change it to an exhibition brief so that it has more of a real purpose.
Deliverables:
1. 10 posters/exhibition images.
2. Brand the Exhibition.
3. Flyer to promote the Exhibition.
4. Give away Postcards at the exhibition.
5. Typeface for descriptions/information at the exhibition.
6. Information Booklet/exhibition guide.
This is a promotional flyer/invite for the exhibition, making use of the typeface that i created. After flicking through a book, called typeface as program - I thought I would break the use of grids and try a more experimental design. I started of with a basic layout, to decide on what information to use. In the end, i decided to use an existing typeface to contrast with mine. I feel this adds more of an experimental looks. My typeface has a kind of pixel feel to it, which usually I am not to keen on so I felt a contrast typeface would enhance the feel of this design. I quite like this flyer so far, I might try and experiment a bit more with colour too - but it is a starting point and printing onto different stock might heighten the design more. Because I am using this typeface throughout my design work, It could get a bit dry and repetitive, using this 'contrasting' type avoids this. It would be good to create this typeface myself too - it might be quite fun to make too as I usually stick to grid like fonts.
Promotional Flyer/ Poster and a give away postcard to be at the exhibition.

Giving the illusions idea more context simple by adding, 'learn the trick of the illusion. It makes the poster work as quite a mysterious promotional piece. This poster and business card will come in an envelope, this is the next thing I need to design. I could be quite clever with the envelope - using die cut, still playing in the idea of illusions.

Magic
Business Card idea.. have the illusion on the front and the logo on the back - to ensure clarity.
Instead of doing a halftone pattern illusion like I have done previously - I have creating the pattern myself - made up of an M shape, which also works as the logo.

Magic. Concept 4.
The Magicians A - Z. These are kind of concept proposals posters - to see if I can make it work.
I quite like the simplicity of the designs and can see it working quite well across a variety of formats.
I could brand the company something to do with Magic and A to Z.
I could create the set of posters. Have a small book - with definitions underneath. I would create an individual typeface for each poster. I could see each poster working well without the description underneath as, just as typographical posters separate from Magic.
As I started creating these posters, I thought they would look good with a woodblock aesthetic - maybe screenprinted?
I can see the final pieces forming now. I like that they could work independently from magic as well as with.
