Starting to put together my final boards now. I think this brief is one of the strongest I have done so I am keen to do the project justice and make some good boards. I think the first two work as a set as do the second. I did not think it was worth putting photos of the posters onto the boards as I will just submit them as final pieces. I think I need to show I have considered scale though - as I have also designs a poster to A0 size.

Screen Printing...
I did some screen printing with my ampersand last week. The results were a bit mixed, because the type is really fine the results tend to be a bit temperamental. However, the overall image looks good on the T-shirt looks good. I am going to experiment a bit further with screen printing now that I have got the ball rolling. I might try and do a few paper based screen prints, of the other punctuation marks too. Look into doing a bit of overlaying of the three images.
I had another thought to screen print onto some notebooks. I decided to try this out using stickers first to see if It looks good. I really like it, except for the glossy effect the stickers have left.

After talking to Graham about my ampersand booklet, I was wanting to know a few rules about putting together a typographic layout and these are the notes i put together afterwards. It is all about an eye for detail the majority of the time and I felt like i was glazing over the details that were there and that I knew needed sorting but needed a bit of guidance in doing so. It was really quite refreshing the advice Graham gave me, and he was pushing me to do all the thinking, even though it put me on the spot it was really helpful and I like being taught like that on a one to one basis as it takes me out of my comfort zone and makes me really reflect on the work.

ISTD Connections.
I have these two deliverables below that work as a set - to be delivered in a poster tube.. this is something else I need to consider to finalize the piece and give it a context. I have an 'amperpost' logo to tie it all together too. So I think i need to create a sticker/label of the label to put onto the tube with.

D.I.Y Message Cards
This is another ideas i had to make the most of my connections brief - which has now turned into a punctuation mark brief! To use my design for the exclamation mark but to create a set of notecards where you fill in the message you want to leave.

Language Context..
To go with the notebook design, a pencil and rubber. Makes a language learning set.
I thought I my various contexts were getting a bit confusing. So i created this board to show at the crit tomorrow so it is clear what my plans are. I need to decide wether to look into this brief futher or If i should leave it now.

Exercise Book
I had an idea to relate to a different audience. Those learning/teaching/who like English Language.
This final pieces gives examples of how to use the ampersand and the history behind it and then in this middle is an exercise book for learning aspects of the English Language.

Connection Context..
Another possible context. I have started to find designing for non commercial contexts to be more interesting now, so I am looking at everyday items that I can apply this design to - and really this can be applied to anything and have a tagline associating two things together.

Final Pieces.
Finishing up the connections side of this brief now ready for submission on Tuesday. I did some foiling on my poster to give a spot gloss effect, but the foiling makes it a bit more subtle. It came out really well, I am always impressed with the left over foil afterwards, it just shows how much detail it can pick up. It was not as successful with the booklet as the heat press damaged some of the text on the opposite side and he now looks faded. However, the gloss makes it seem more professional and sophisticated, especially on this middle page - it enhances the design of the ampersand even more.
