An updated mock up of my booklet of postcards. Oliver pointed out that the dotted outline on the front page looks like it has hole punches in it - so I might experiment with this.

Using the stamps designs to create a booklet of postcards.

Poster Design..

Neatening up the Layout.

Have talking to Joe, I have decided I need to quickly finalise this brief now - possibly by the end of today and then I can work on my Ampersand brief and get all the photographs done by Friday.

I am neatening up the layouts and going to keep them simple in black and white to create a more sophisticated design.

Trying to think about final changes, such as the colour. I like it on the page as a grey stamp put feel it will work better in colour on the envelope or when in use.

Extending Beyond Stamps...

A play on the phrase.. 'When in Rome.'

I thought about doing a set of informative posters for each city. They are quite simple, but could be aimed at travelers as a kind of collective item. Maybe postcards?

Stamp Booklets..

A mock up of the stamp booklet, front cover and inside stamps. I feel like the bright bold colours make the stamps feel like it is more of a novelty product and a bit less sophisticated. Maybe the stock I print it on could subtle the colours slightly.

Creating a typeface to link all of the stamp design together. To me the underground it something easily related to big cities, wether it is London or Barcelona, the majority of cities have undergrounds or trams.

Making a booklet of 6 stamps, deciding on wether to bring colour into the design - colours relating to colour of the flag or to keep them simple and black and white.

The black and white colour looks more sophisticated. But thinking about the stamps in context on an envelope, it is going to look alot more effective in colour.

Stamps.. extending.

Extending the concept further. I like these designs, but I am trying to work out a context for them. I was thinking of creating a map and using these as labelling the cities, but it seems it is going to be quite a mission and at times it is so small you can barely see it.

I need to decide on my context, other than stamps. Maybe i need to create my book of stamps first and then I can move on from that to create another context...

Type Manipulation.

This leaning tower of italy image I have seen else where so i can not use this.. (as brilliant as it is) (and it is not a city so it does not fit in anyway)

The brief was to design four steps of stamps for the countries in the UK. But as it is a past brief - I have decided to make it a bit more interesting and look at famous cities instead. This idea came to me quite quickly when i was actually working on a different brief:

I felt that certain shapes are quite significant to cities - and i could create simple shape stamps.
It could be quite interesting to see how far I can break something down and make it still recognizable.
